Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, better called Ari Lennox, is an American musician and singer from Washington, D.C., who was the first woman to sign with J. Cole's Dreamville Records record label. The label debuted her first album titled Pho in the month of October 2016 where she started to gain recognition. Shea Butter Baby her debut album was released on May 7, 2019. Ari Lennox started uploading her music onto the internet back in 2012 after she released her debut mixtape Five Finger Discount and debut EP Ariography in 2013. The year 2014 saw her continue to share her music over the internet, including her self launched single Bound. On July 21st, 2015, Omen featured her on Elephant Eyes' track"Sweat it Out.. J. Cole had her submit her tracks for the Dreamville Team later in the year as he wanted Rihanna to work with her on some references. The announcement of her decision to be signed to Dreamville Records was made on the 8th day of December. Backseat is a song that she co-wrote with Cozz for the collaborative album Revenge of the Dreamers II. The 21st of October, 2016, she released her debut EP titled Pho. Ari Lennox performed the song Change by J. Cole as well as being an opener on The 4 Your Eyez Only Tour 2017, in which she joined by EarthGang. She also appeared on the songs Nothing but the Best by EarthGang as well as Icarus together with Bas the label's co-founders. Ari Lennox, on the 16th of July in 2018 she released her debut single "Whipped Cream" from Shea Butter Baby. The music video for it was released on September 5th. On November 9 the singer released two new singles, forty Shades of Choke as well as Grampa. On November 13 two new singles called One and Pedigree. One and Pedigree. Shea Butter Baby is a track she sang together with Cole on Creed II's soundtrack on November 16th. It then came out as a single on its own in February 2019 to coincide with her debut album. On February 20, 2019, a music clip was released to promote the song. It has already received more than three million views on YouTube in its first week. As a supporting act, she toured in concert with 6LACK in December of 2018 for The From East Atlanta With Love Tour.
